My name is Carter Nash. I am a student at the University of
Florida where I am studying business. I am person who has some computer skills,
but more importantly I have personable skills and a hardworking attitude. My
aspirations are to help others, so specifically regarding my business, I am
hoping to help senior citizens and disabled people have greater freedom to do
things that they can normally not do on their own due to transportation issues.
I will be offering an installed application for smartphones
and tablets which allows those who have documented disabilities or those who are
over 65 years old to register and receive on call rides to their desired
destination.
I would likely offer it directly to senior citizens.
However, I will also reach out the the middle age demographic who are looking
for easier ways to get their parents around. Additionally, I would offer it to
those who are disabled directly, as well as their families.
The value of this application is substantial because of the
freedom it will provide. Using this service would diminish the stress around getting
places, or the worry of getting your parents places. The worth is in the
convenience and freedom it provides.
What sets us apart from others is that we are specifically
tailoring our service to those who are not used to being made a focal point.
The vehicles alone would be unique and be made specifically for those who need extra
comfort or special accommodations.
I believe most of these elements of my business concept fit
together. The only question I may raise would be whether I will be developing a
unique software and app. Additionally, a weaker aspect may be the targeted
demographic. Many people may rather transport their parents themselves instead
of paying for it. Overall I believe most aspects, specifically the what and who
I’m offering it to and why they care, fit together.

ReplyDeleteI have a very similar concept in that I too have a transportation service in mind, but for children. It is most often the children and the elderly that have the most trouble getting from place to place.
As I am sure you are aware, there are businesses that already offer our service.I have some same ideas that you do, as far as an app. I didnt see where you got to into what information your app would provide, but my question is would it be easy for people over 65 to use? And what if the parents of the older children wanted to track their elderly parents?

ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea! Despite what Carolyn said, I had no idea that services like this already exist since I've never had to use one. I think the idea that the vehicles will be tailored to the needs of your demographic will be really convenient. I agree with Carolyn that a tracking system will possibly be needed to ensure the children of the elderly that they are safe and dropped off where they are meant to be (Doctor's appointments, stores, etc). Overall, I think this is a great concept! Keep up the great work!

ReplyDeleteI also think your idea is awesome. The United States, however, unlike some cultures around the world aren’t as responsive to our senior citizens. Therefore, your approach to help our elderly is very respectable and I believe more services like yours need to be implemented into our culture.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your idea and I have many of the same attributes. I am also very hardworking and value that above many other aspects of my personality. I am also a bartender so I understand the value of having a good personality. Implementing this app would be much easier if you have people skills to make the disabled people feel comfortable.
I think you have a great idea here! I do know that there are some businesses around that have a similar idea. So maybe there is a unique aspect you might be able to focus on to really stand out and offer something different. Maybe it's the speed, and the ease of access because its through an app. Maybe it's the app itself which would be user friendly to your targeted market. Just a few things to think about.
